It was incredible. I'll be floating on the high from these two shows for a while. Absolutely a welcome distraction in these times. I'm going to all 20 shows, btw. Very happy my sabbatical coincided with this tour and I was able to incorporate it into my projects.

Thank you for sharing! Stipe also appeared and performed at Carnegie Hall this past Monday for the annual Tibet House benefit.

He opened with a poem reading, followed by a beautifully wrenching “The Man Who Sold The World”. He then sang one more song which I didn’t know, but my wife and I both had goosebumps. I never thought I’d ever see Michael sing in public again, and it was an emotional experience. I was at REM’s first-ever show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ soon after Chronic Town came out…….I wish all of you coulda been there, too. ❤️

A really beautiful write up. I saw the Philly show last year and will again see the Philly show on Thursday. Kurt Vile tends to show up and play at anything like this (he did last time). Pretty Persuasion is such a great song.

Thanks so much for this. I’ve been a fan since ‘Reckoning,’ and it’s safe to say that I would not have played music or been in bands were it not for their example. These reunions have been such a balm for my soul. I was smiling my face off seeing these clips, reminded all over again why and how much I love this band and what their songs mean to so many. Thank you so much again 🙏

We should put our heads together and start a new country up …

(I also felt compelled to write about it at my newsletter, if anyone wants to have a look.)

I'm jealous to not have been able to go to Athens for the shows. However, the opening show in Pioneertown was amazing.

Loved reading it; reminded me of seeing The Replacements at Forest Hills Stadium on their reunion tour.

Needing some magic and hope right now.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t also think “enormodome” (or The Sphere), but your writing gives me faith that some truths will continue to adhere.
